I unfortunately did not have this blog running during the balloon fiesta of ’08 but I have some great pictures that I will be sharing. There are so many fun and exciting events that happen here year round and I will be posting about them and adding pictures. Anyone is welcome to do the same.

Many people ask what it is like to live in Rio Rancho
I personally love to answer this question. I can not say enough good about it. The people are wonderful, the weather is pleasant, the landscape is beautiful(high desert, mountains, rivers, cacti, yucca and a host of wildlife), rich culture and opportunity. It is one of the best kept secrets in the country.
Economy is holding up despite national downturn
New Mexico is holding up very well despite the national and international economic downturn. This is attributed to many factors but a few are more obvious than others: First, the housing market did not sky rocket out of control so when the bubble burst it was not far from reality; Second, the industries here are diversified into agriculture, manufacturing, high-tech industries, an educated workforce is attracting some large companies to relocate here. Third, we have a growing moving industry that will be second only to Hollywood and is now being referred to as Tamalewood.
Some of the best housing deals are right now
With the Feds dropping the rate at which banks borrow money some institutions are offering very aggressive low mortgage rates. We are seeing some rates for a 30 year fixed below 5.5%. Usually low rates are coupled with increasing home prices but right now we are seeing low rates and low housing prices. It is a great time to purchase if you are in the market to buy.

Why Rio Rancho?
I have had many friends that live out of state that have asked me “Why Rio Rancho?, What makes it such a great place to live?” I simply explain that the economy here has not suffered as much as most other parts of the country. The housing market is number one according to Forbes, home values are holding steady and some are seeing some moderate increases. All this is not to say it is bullet proof but it does give some insight as to why this can be a desirable place.
